Shaima Bin Othman

Associate Fellow

Shaima Bin Othman joined the Yemen Policy Center in 2019. Her research focuses on issues related to peacebuilding, women’s political participation, and arts.

Shaima is co-founder and CEO of Madarat Cultural Organization (formerly known as Meemz Arts Initiative), which focuses on the arts as a method for social change and peacebuilding. In addition, she is a MEPI TLG Scholar and has a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the American University of Beirut. In her MA thesis, she focused on women’s political participation in pre- and post-unification Yemen.

She is an alumnus of the SI Leader Lab and the Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship Programme and holds a B.A. in English Literature from Hadhramaut University. She is currently based in Saudi Arabia.
