Testimonial from YPC Intern
I highly recommend an internship at the YPC to everyone who is interested in development politics and societal issues at the local level, like community safety, gender, mediation. The exceptionally collegial working atmosphere at the YPC where everyone, regardless of his/her position in the working hierarchy, is assisting you in your work makes the YPC the perfect workplace to improve your skills and enrich your knowledge. The trust that is given to you by your colleagues make you feel like an integral part of the team rather than just a random intern. The variety of the tasks I was entrusted with made my work extremely varied and multifaced. My tasks encompassed desk research, writing tasks, reviewing field data but also administrative tasks including email correspondence. Thus, I think at the YPC you can develop your skills in a variety of fields. Most importantly, my internship at the YPC enabled me to get invaluable insights into the field of informing policies based on scientific research. It enabled me as a young student of political science to get an idea about a possible future field of work, which in my opinion you do not get at university. Thus, the internship at the YPC enriched my perspective on how to do something meaningful with my studies. All in all, my internship at the YPC was an extraordinary experience. I hugely enjoyed my work as it made me feel that I was doing something meaningful.
