The Yemen Policy Center (YPC) has an exciting opportunity for a Communication and Social Media Manager to join our team. We work towards putting Yemeni narratives at the center stage, developing inclusive research methodologies, and influencing local and international decision-making.

YPC Germany e.V. is a young organization comprising ambitious Yemeni and German researchers committed to supporting Yemeni talent. Our goal is to influence policy-making to improve the living conditions of the Yemeni people and foster lasting peace.
Role Overview
As the Social Media Manager, you will work with the Chief Communications Editor and play a crucial role in managing YPC’s public image and engagement through various communication and social media channels.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Management: Managing YPC’s social media profiles (such as Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram) by creating and posting content, responding to comments and messages, and engaging with followers.
- Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing communication and social media strategies to enhance the organization’s presence and reputation. This includes setting goals, identifying target audiences, and choosing appropriate channels and tactics.
- Content Creation: Producing high-quality content for social media platforms, websites, newsletters, and press releases. This includes writing, editing, and designing visual content.
- Brand Management: Ensuring all social media communication materials align with the organization’s brand guidelines and maintaining a consistent voice and tone across all channels.
- Community Engagement: Building and nurturing relationships with the community, including partners and the general public. This can involve participating in discussions and fostering a positive community around YPC.
- Collaborating with Teams: Working with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and support overall organizational goals.
- Monitoring and Analytics: Tracking and analyzing social media metrics and other communication efforts to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies. This involves using tools to monitor engagement, reach, and other key performance indicators.
- Staying Updated: Keeping up with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in communication and social media to ensure the organization remains current and effective in its outreach efforts.
Qualifications
You must:
- Be Arabic and English bilingual;
- Have 3+ years’ experience working in communications, ideally for a charity, an NGO, or a think tank;
- Have managed social media for an organization;
- Be able to use tools such as Adobe Photoshop and illustrator;
- Be an excellent communicator in Arabic and English;
- Be able to create engaging and consistent content for social media platforms, understanding the best practices of each social media channel;
- Be able to set an appropriate tone for each social media platform and language;
- Have experience of delivering strategic social media content plans, incorporating digital communities across online platforms;
- Be able to use analytics tools and able to prepare and present data and reports to colleagues;
- Be comfortable using WordPress;
- Be able to work remotely, and across several time zones;
- Be resourceful and take initiative;
- Be a strong communicator who works well independently and with a team; and
- Have excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Conditions
You will work remotely, based in or outside of Yemen.
Compensation will be negotiated based on candidates’ experience.
The start date is by 7 August 2024.
