On November 7, 2019, YPC Head of Research, gave a talk at the Friedrich-Alexander University’s Orient Kolloquium. In her talk, Mareike Transfeld spoke about the research she is doing in the framework of YPC’s EU-funded project “Rebuilding Peace and Security”. In this project, YPC collected quantitative and qualitiative data on security, security institutions and more. Her talk focused on the fragmentation of security governance on the local level, demonstrating the need of the UN framework for peace talks to be readjusted.
The main points of her talk are also summarized in this article published by Carnegie’s Sada Journal: https://carnegieendowment.org/sada/80399
